Mark McKenna is an artist, designer, and engineer. McKenna attended the University of Illinois where he studied industrial design. He also attended the University of Northumbria in England and the Ingo Maurer Studio in Germany. After finishing school, he was awarded a US patent for his senior thesis project—a machine for the automatic production of sandbags to be used for flood control. McKenna followed his passions for design and engineering, working at Henry Dreyfuss Associates, where he helped design John Deere equipment. After that, he opened the Ingo Maurer showroom in New York City and later founded mmckenna LLC in 2002. He is now the Design Director for Humanscale.
