Hollow Core Ninety Degrees
Submitted by: RSVP Architecture
Designer's Description: A standard hollow-core door (in this case purchased at Home Depot) is sliced into 1-3/4" strips which are rotated 90 degrees then glued. For a simple screen, the project is complete. In an application requiring greater acoustic separation, glass or Plexiglas is laminated to the front and back surface and the assembly edged with aluminum.Through the use of standard hollow-core doors, our design seeks to transform an under-appreciated product into something of subtlety and beauty.
